Osteomylography is an examination of the upper and lower parts of the spinal cord. It is invasive and is performed by inserting a catheter into the bony canal of the spine, after which an image of its contents is taken. Let us describe in more detail all the details of such a procedure.
Osteomylography is prescribed only for certain indications: - Formation of a compressive tumor. - Internal spinal cord injuries incompatible with human life, for example, in a traffic accident. With computed tomography it is impossible to determine the exact diagnosis, therefore, the patient requires magnetic resonance imaging. It also allows you to identify diseases of the spine and intervertebral discs. MRI is considered a more informative study, as it provides a complete picture of the development of the hernia, the presence and size of protrusions. In addition, the method extremely rarely provokes complications, compared to drainage of the paranasal sinuses.
