Tumors that form on the outside of the skull

It happens that hot and cold tumors form in the membranes located on the outside of the head, and sometimes, especially in children, a disease occurs that consists of the accumulation of water in the head. This disease sometimes also occurs in adults. It is expressed in the retention of aqueous humor between the skull and the skin or between the two outer membranes; this place on the head is pressed in, the child cries and does not sleep. In children, this disease occurs in most cases due to the fact that the midwife inadvertently squeezed the child’s head and separated the sutures, opened the mouths of the vessels and watery blood flowed under the skin, but sometimes it can be other juices, not aqueous humor. If the color of the skin remains the same as it was, and the skin itself is raised and can be pressed and pressed, then there is water in the head; if the color of the skin has changed, the skin is heterogeneous to the touch, hard and does not yield under pressure, and there is a burning sensation and pain in it, then there is a tumor on the outside of the skull.

When children or adults have water in their heads - this mainly happens in children - you need to find out whether there is a lot of it and whether it goes under pressure from the outside to the inside. If this is the case, then it is incurable. When there is little water and it has stagnated between the skin and the skull, then make either one transverse incision, or two intersecting incisions, if there is a lot of water, or three intersecting incisions, if there is even more water, and remove the contents, and then bandage the head and apply wine and olive oil to it for three days. Then remove the bandage and treat with plasters and wicks, if necessary, or with thread and suture, if this is enough and there is no need for plasters and wicks. If the meat grows slowly, then it is prescribed to expose the bone a little so that the meat grows faster. When there is very little water, it is enough to dissolve the harmful juice using medicinal dressings.

As for external tumors, you distinguish between hot and cold tumors by touch and color, as well as by the appropriateness of the medications applied to them. With all such tumors, pain pressing on the skull is felt; by feeling your head, you will hit a sore spot. Treat the tumor with milder means than you treat sarsam, but you can safely use strong remedies. Blood cupping without an incision is more beneficial here than bloodletting with an incision.

In case of unquenchable thirst in children, the nurse needs to give barley water or liquid barley oatmeal to drink. If a child has diarrhea, in such cases the child is given a little bamboo concretion and roasted purslane seeds to drink, because diarrhea with this disease is a bad sign. Let the nurse avoid indigestion, and let the child apply chilled violets to the crown of the head.
