Edema Colloid-Osmotic

**Colloid-osmotic edema** is edema that develops as a result of an increase in the intravascular volume of fluid. Edema caused by an increase in the volume of circulating blood and extracellular fluid (due to extravasation of the liquid part of the blood cells) is called cardiogenic; if they are associated with sodium and water retention, then they are called nephrogenic.
