The vaginal opening is the opening located between the clitoris and the back wall of the vagina. This hole plays an important role in female orgasm and sexual satisfaction. It opens and closes during sex, allowing men to insert their penises inside the vagina.
The vaginal opening is formed by protrusion of the soft tissues of the perineum into the interior and has a cylindrical shape (oval in projection from the sides). The hole size is on average 4-6 cm in length and 2.5-3.5 cm in width. It has two slits: external and internal. Each of them is accompanied by a free fold, penetrated by multiple arterioles, capillaries and veins, among which there is an anastomosis of the uterine arteries and an internal anastomotic venous plexus, formed in the form of paired veins. In the upper part the hole is accompanied by a venous anastomosis. In addition, around the hole there is spongy tissue that has multiple blood vessels, nerve endings and connective tissue, which plays the role of the base or flaps of the valve that opens and closes during sexual intercourse.
