Parasitism is permanent - (syn. P. stationary). The specific definition of this concept given by Prozorova has become widely used: * “constant long-term parasitism of individuals of one species on the body of individuals of another species.” * In general, both proposed concepts meet these conditions. Parasites that have settled permanently can be *definitive,* using another host or organism throughout their life, and *intermediate* - not undergoing metamorphosis in adulthood, but adapted from birth to a new host and
