Pemphigoid neonatorum (Latin name: pemphigoid neonatorum), also known as "hemorrhagic diathesis" of newborns, is a rare hereditary disease that is characterized by severe dehydration caused by impaired production of substances necessary for the synthesis of protein structures. This manifests itself in the form of bleeding wounds on the newborn's body, which can lead to death.
The disease most often occurs in male infants and requires immediate medical intervention. The cause of this disease is believed to be a genetic trait in which the body does not produce enough hyaluronidase or other proteins.
