Pictures With Salt

Paintings, drawings and other artistic works that your child creates in the kitchen can be decorated with salt by pouring it onto separate areas of the pictures, smeared with glue. (Use coarse salt.) It will add a special effect to winter landscapes, a sandy beach, a fluffy white bunny, an elegant outfit with glitter, or rain outside the window. If this does not harm your inherent thriftiness, allow your child to add parsley leaves, pepper and other spices from your stock to his creation. When finished, have your child shake off the excess salt from the drawing onto a piece of paper. You can pour the leftovers into a jar or box to use next time.
