Pyelonephritis is an inflammation of the kidneys of unknown etiology. Most often, the disease develops as a result of infection.
Due to the peculiarities of the anatomical location, the female reproductive system reacts to the inflammatory process differently than in men. The genital tract is located inside the pelvis. When a patient has urolithiasis and the bladder becomes inflamed, the infection goes down, is localized in the kidney and pyelonephritis appears. There is a separate type of kidney disease - pyelonephrosis, but this happens extremely rarely in women.
**What's wrong with men?** In representatives of the stronger half of humanity, pathologies in the kidneys are observed less frequently. After surgery to remove the prostate gland, the sphincter muscle that surrounds the urethra is weakened. This leads to the presence of many microorganisms in the urine that have pathogenic properties. When it enters the kidney cavity under the influence of body temperature, it becomes easier for bacteria to spread throughout the tissue of the organ. This is how infection and inflammation appear. In healthy men, the pathology practically does not manifest itself, which suggests that the disease is associated with a violation of the microflora and the presence of infectious agents.
The main causes of kidney pathology
According to the classification, there are the following types of pyelonephritis:
- bacterial. The reason is infection of the kidney by both ordinary bacteria and viruses; - allergic. Caused by some allergen or medication. If the patient's immune system begins to reject drugs, the risk of developing this form increases. Therefore, doctors warn the patient which drug he needs, monitor his condition, preventing possible complications. Sometimes allergic nephritis affects pharmaceutical workers.
