Russell's Nutrient Medium

Russell's culture medium is a biological term that refers to a culture (medium) of microorganisms that is created to grow bacteria of a specific species.

The phenomenon of generic shift - the transfer of a microbe from one morphological type (genus) to another, is noted in connection with the accumulation of mutations in recombinant genomic material. This is most often observed when using bacteriophages, the DNA of which can be integrated into homologous bacterial genes. The obvious signs of a generic shift are given the name DNA segregation and are designated by the letter S. S. rosette - colonies in the form of delicate septate clusters of brilliant pink tones of S. difficile
