The plasma membrane is the membrane that surrounds every cell in our body. It has the form of a thin film and contains many proteins, lipids and other molecules that provide its structure and function. Without the plasma membrane we would not be able to live. The cell must be surrounded by this membrane in order to maintain its shape and stability.
