Pleurisy

Title: Pleurisy

Pleurisy is inflammation of the pleura with the formation of fibrinous plaque on its surface or effusion in its cavity. It is always secondary, a syndrome or complication of many diseases, but at a certain period it can come to the fore in the clinical picture, masking the underlying disease.

Etiology and pathogenesis. The occurrence of pleurisy of an infectious nature is due to the inaction of pathogens of specific (mycobacterium tuberculosis, treponema pallidum) and nonspecific (pneumococci, staphylococci, E. coli, viruses, fungi, etc.) infections. A common cause of pleurisy is systemic connective tissue diseases (rheumatism, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.); neoplasms; thromboembolism and thrombosis of the pulmonary arteries. The pathogenesis of most pleurisy is allergic.

Symptoms and course are determined by the localization, prevalence, nature of inflammation of the pleura, changes in the function of neighboring organs. The main forms of pleurisy: dry, or fibrinous, effusion, or exudative. Exudative pleurisy is divided according to the nature of the effusion into serous, serous-fibrinous, purulent, hemorrhagic, chylous, mixed.

Treatment is complex, including active treatment of the underlying disease and early vigorous treatment of pleurisy. Antibacterial and targeted chemotherapy, sanitation of the pleural cavity are carried out, anti-inflammatory drugs, drugs that mobilize the body's defenses, as well as symptomatic therapy are prescribed.

Prevention consists of sanitary and hygienic measures, increasing the body's defenses, and timely treatment of infectious and other diseases. The patients are under dispensary observation.

Pleurisy is an inflammatory disease that affects the pleura, the thin membrane that lines the chest and covers the lungs. In this article we will talk about the main symptoms of pleurisy and how to treat it.

Pleurisy is a serious condition because it can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia, lung abscess, pulmonary embolism, and even death. However, timely consultation with a doctor and proper treatment can reduce the risk of complications and speed up recovery.

Symptoms of pleurisy include chest pain, which may become worse with deep breathing or coughing, and fever. In addition, patients may experience shortness of breath, coughing up phlegm, and general weakness.

The causes of pleurisy can be various, including infections such as tuberculosis or pneumonia, chest trauma, malignant tumors, etc. Sometimes pleurisy can be associated with other diseases,
