Pneumocholecystitis

Pneumocholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder caused by air entering it.

Pneumocholecystitis develops as a result of air entering the lumen of the gallbladder. This can occur during certain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, such as cholecystography, laparoscopy, ERCP. The disease can also be caused by the presence of a fistula between the gallbladder and other hollow organs of the abdominal cavity.

The main symptoms of pneumocholecystitis:

  1. pain in the right hypochondrium, worsening with deep inspiration;

  2. fever;

  3. nausea and vomiting;

  4. bloating.

Diagnosis is based on medical history, clinical picture and instrumental research methods - ultrasound, radiography.

Treatment of pneumocholecystitis consists of conservative therapy aimed at stopping the inflammatory process. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical intervention may be required - cholecystectomy.

The prognosis with timely diagnosis and adequate treatment is usually favorable. Pneumocholecystitis is curable and leaves no consequences.

Pneumocholecystitis

**Pneumocholecitasis** is an inflammation of the gallbladder, which is accompanied by the appearance of air in it. Both the gallbladder itself and the peritoneum and stomach located near it can be affected. As a rule, aerohemorrhagic cholangitis is combined with cholelithiasis or acute cholecystitis. However, according to other sources (mainly the works of Latin American pathologists), pneumocholecittitis also occurs in tumors, complicating surgical resection of tumor-like masses (including tumors of the head of the pancreas). In some cases, especially with liver damage or emphysema, air entering the gallbladders causes intense pain and jaundice.

It is believed that aerocholecelitis is a much rarer case compared to extrahepatic and peritoneal forms of purulent inflammation of the gallbladder. Previously, pneumocholicystitis, as a complication of open abdominal surgery, was recognized exclusively as a medical error, a surgical error. Now doctors agree that this form of cholecystitis should be considered an independent disease. With aero
