Pneumocyst (Pneumocystis)

Pneumocystis is a genus of protozoa. P. carinii can lead to the development of pneumonia in people with reduced resistance to various infections, which is usually observed with long-term and intensive use of chemotherapy (see also AIDS).

Pneumonia caused by pathogens of the Pneumocystis carinii species, without appropriate treatment, can lead to the death of the patient in 10-30% of cases; It is usually treated with large doses of cotrimoxazole or pentamidine.

Pneumocystis is a genus of protozoa that can cause pneumonia in people with weakened immune systems, such as those who have been on long-term chemotherapy or have HIV infection. Pathogens of the species Pneumocystis carinii can lead to serious complications, such as death of the patient. Large doses of cotrimazole or pentamidine can be used to treat pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis, but without proper treatment, pneumonia can be fatal.

Pneumocyte (Pneumocystus, scientific name Pneumocystis jiroveci): Another threat to human health is the causative agent of pneumonia.

Pneumocystis is a genus of protozoa of the amoeba class, quite large. According to various sources, three species are widespread in Russia. Pneumocystis carnium is the most common species (sometimes considered a separate species) and the most dangerous to humans. Causes pneumocystosis, that is, it can cause pneumonia. Pneumonocyte calaminum causes a similar disease in South America. These representatives have significant morphological differences in body shape, size, presence of flagella and other features. For example, Pneumocystis scarus, which lives in southern latitudes, is small in size and has a different body shape, while Pneumocystis carnium occupies a middle position in size. Another species, Pneumocystis caninorum, is an opportunistic pathogen. Under normal conditions, it parasitizes dogs, causing the phenomenon of pneumocytosis. But the infection is not dangerous for cats. The disease occurs in the form of Pneumocystis pneumonia, hence its name - Pneumocystis pseudomembranous pneumonitis.

Most often, pneumocytosis develops due to reduced immunity due to HIV and severe liver problems. A large number of antibiotics and antiprotozoal drugs are used for treatment.
