Obturator pneumonia is a type of pneumonic inflammation of the lungs, which is caused by blockage of the airways by the lung tissues and causes blockage of the bronchi and other types of abnormal tissue enlargement and obstructive pulmonary diseases.

Obturator pneumonia can occur in various forms, such as catarrhal, latent, septic and others.

Initially it may be limited to the major bronchial passages or nearby soft tissues, but later it can spread through the lymphatic system and cause empyema and complications that are rapidly fatal.
