Popular Talk Show

Young children are not very willing to ask adults about themselves, but they love to talk about themselves. You can invite your child and someone from your family to take part in a family talk show, acting as the host. Turn on the tape recorder and ask your child a question. For example: “What do you like to do when you go for a walk?” After he answers, advise him: “Ask your grandfather what he liked to do outside when he was a little boy?” The host’s second question might be: “Please tell everyone what your favorite dish is?” Then let the grandfather answer what he liked most to eat as a child, and the child will say whether he likes it too or not...

Here are five questions the facilitator might ask:

  1. What are your parents’ favorite proverbs and sayings?

  2. What do you like most?

  3. What's not to like?

  4. What are you afraid of?

  5. What fun things do you remember at school?

Such a family talk show will help the child open up and get to know his family better, and the family will learn more about the child. This is a great way to bond and have fun!
