Porphyrinuria

Porphyrin disease, n. (Greek porphyra purpur + -gn. -uria - urinary), a disease of the blood system, characterized by an increased content of porphyry or other organic compounds with a central unsaturated system of conjugated pyrimidine-pyrrole or benzenoid rings that arise in the body and give urine red or bloody stool. The main symptom of P. is the coloring of urine red. P.'s classification is based on the morphological variant of the disease: P. Gene, P. "lead stains", etc. Provoking factors are overstrain of the patient's nervous system, trauma, infection, etc.
