Posthepatitis Syndrome (Posthepatitis Hyperbilia-Binemia, Posthepatitis Jaundice)

Here is a draft article on Posthepatitis Syndrome:

Posthepatitis syndrome is a symptom complex characterized by residual mild hyperbilirubinemia with an increased content of predominantly indirect (free) bilirubin in the blood, detected in some patients who have suffered acute (usually viral) hepatitis, without signs of other functional and morphological changes in the liver.

Patients with posthepatitis syndrome sometimes experience general weakness, fatigue and mild dyspeptic symptoms. The liver is usually of normal size or slightly enlarged, soft, painless.

Over the course of several weeks or months, complete regression of symptoms is observed.

Treatment of posthepatitis syndrome:

  1. Inpatient treatment is not required.

  2. A diet excluding spicy and fatty foods and alcohol is recommended.

  3. Light choleretic agents (corn silk extract, mineral water like Essentuki) are prescribed in courses.

  4. Vitamin therapy is carried out.

  5. Thermal and electrical procedures on the liver area are not recommended.

Patients' ability to work is usually preserved, but it is necessary to limit physical and nervous overload.
