The drug Prazosinbenene is a selective α1-blocker. The international name is Prazosin (other trade names are Adverzutin, Miniperss, Novoprzin, Polipressin, etc.). The dosage form is presented in tablets (dosages of 1, 2 or 5 mg are available).
The main indication for the use of Prazosin is for the treatment of arterial hypertension. It may also be useful in early stages of heart failure and for the treatment of prostate adenoma in men. The drug is not recommended for use in women and children, or for use in patients with contraindications such as hypersensitivity, heart disease, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Side effects that may occur while taking Prazosin include headache, dizziness, fainting, fatigue and weakness. In rare cases, nausea, diarrhea, and increased frequency of urination may also occur.
The effect of the drug may be enhanced by interaction with beta blockers and diuretics. Therefore, before using Prazosin, you should consult with your doctor and discuss possible interactions with other medications, especially if the patient is taking antihypertensive drugs or maintaining fluid levels with diuretics.
