Vestibule of the Laryngeal Cavity (Supraglottis)

The vestibule of the Laryngeal Cavity (Supraglottis) is a section of the laryngeal cavity located above the folds of the vestibule.

The vestibule of the larynx includes:

  1. The epiglottis (epiglottis) is a cartilage that closes the entrance to the larynx during swallowing, preventing food from entering the respiratory tract.

  2. The aryepiglottic folds are two folds of the mucous membrane located on the sides of the epiglottis.

  3. False vocal folds (vestibular folds) are two folds of mucous membrane above the true vocal folds. They are involved in creating low tones when singing.

  4. Pear-shaped pouches are paired invaginations of the mucous membrane between the false and true vocal folds.

The vestibule plays an important role in protecting the underlying parts of the larynx during swallowing. Lesions of the vestibule of the larynx can lead to disturbances in voice production and breathing.

The vestibule of the laryngeal cavity (supraglottis), or supraglottis, is a section of the laryngeal cavity located above the folds of the vestibule that connect the vocal cords and the cartilages of the larynx. This space is bounded above by the folds of the vestibule of the larynx and below by the perichondrium.

The laryngeal vestibule is important for protecting the vocal cords and other laryngeal structures from mechanical damage and infection. It is also involved in the formation of the voice and ensures the passage of air through the larynx.

In the vestibule of the larynx, openings open for blood supply and innervation of the larynx, as well as for the respiratory tract. This section may contain lymph nodes and glands involved in the body's immune defense.

Although the vestibule of the larynx does not have a direct connection with the respiratory tract, it plays an important role in the functioning of the larynx as a whole. Disruption of this department can lead to various diseases of the larynx, including laryngeal cancer, laryngitis and other pathologies.

To prevent diseases of the larynx, it is necessary to monitor the health of the mouth and throat, perform regular check-ups with an otolaryngologist, and monitor your voice and lifestyle to maintain a healthy larynx for many years.
