Pregnancy test

Pregnancy test

The future placenta, from the very first day of its existence, secretes a specific chorionic hormone that blocks the function of the ovaries to produce the next egg, thereby preventing a secondary pregnancy. It is on the detection of this chorionic hormone that the principles of early diagnosis of pregnancy are based (literally from the first day of missed menstruation).

BE SURE and other pregnancy tests are sold in any pharmacy. Using a home test, you can determine if you are pregnant. To do this, you need to dip the test strip in a portion of morning urine for 20-30 seconds, then place it on a horizontal surface and evaluate the result within 5 minutes. One red stripe means there is no pregnancy, two red stripes mean there is pregnancy.

Due to the deep penetration of the embryo into the thickness of the uterine wall, ultrasound diagnosis of pregnancy becomes possible only when the developing embryo reaches beyond the uterine wall in size and begins to stretch it (i.e. from 3.5 weeks of pregnancy).

A pregnancy test is a medical device that can determine whether a person is pregnant. The test contains reagents that can interact with hormones released by a woman's body during pregnancy. If the test results show the presence of these hormones, this means that pregnancy is possible. But even if the test results are negative, we should not forget about the possibility of spontaneous pregnancies, so it is best to consult a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis.

Today we have 2 most common types of tests: these are those that contain the sensitivity of the hormone to the human body, and this option must be used 2 weeks before the expected menstruation; and one where the hormone is sensitive to laboratory analysis - it must be used in the morning before and after urination or in the evening an hour after the last urination. In any case, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

The cost of pregnancy tests varies from 50 to 300 rubles. Some people tend to neglect testing in the early stages of pregnancy due to the cost, because early diagnosis can be very important. It is worth remembering that a regular test will not tell you about the condition and future of the fetus and multiple pregnancies, and will not show whether a woman is likely to have a fetus before the permitted date. Such a test is considered only a guide
