Puerperal

Puerperal adaptation - what is it?

Puerper (lat. puerрerium, fr. puerperié; new lat. puer-pér-ium, puегper-ia, plur. puerperia - “postpartum”) is the postpartum period, lasting until the woman’s body fully recovers after childbirth. Traditionally, the time from the onset of labor to the clear demarcation of the postpartum period is considered puerperal, but the concept of puerperium is broader and can be defined in different ways.
