The Yellow Spot, or Yellow Spot, is a small yellow spot in the center of the retina. It is located in the center of the fovea - the area of the retina with the greatest visual acuity.
The spot contains only cones - the light-sensitive cells of the retina responsible for color vision. The absence of rods, responsible for black-and-white images, and the high density of cones give this area the brightest yellow color.
The Yellow spot is of utmost importance for visual acuity, since it is on it that the image is focused when examining small details. Damage to this area of the retina leads to a marked decrease in visual acuity.
