Here's a different type of game for younger children. To play it, you need attention and a good memory. Make squares of six different colors from thick paper and glue them onto cards (postcards) measuring seven by twelve centimeters so that when you turn the card over, you can’t see what color the square is. You need to cut out at least four squares of each color.
The child can now use these cards to learn to concentrate. Place the cards on a flat surface with the colored square facing down. Now have the child try to turn over two cards of the same color. You can also play according to the “Go catch a fish” principle, trying to pick up all four squares of the same color.
Together with your child, you can come up with some other variations of this game. If children are very young and just learning to distinguish colors, place cards around the room with the colored squares facing up and ask the child to jump on an orange card, sit on a red card, or place a blue card on his head.
