Ratke pocket
Rathke's pouch is a small depression in the hypothalamus that plays an important role in the functioning of the endocrine system. This formation was first described by the German anatomist Johann von Rathke in 1788. It is one of the most well-studied structures in the human body and is important for understanding the processes associated with the regulation of hormones.
This pocket was discovered in the 70s of the seventeenth century by the Italian anatomist Recanella. Half a century later, his student, the German anatomist Johann von Rathke, documented its discovery in a scientific treatise.
