Toxic skin gangrene

Skin gangrene is a serious and dangerous skin disease that occurs due to the destruction of internal tissues due to impaired trophism. The syndrome is most often diagnosed in diabetics and cancer patients, as well as those with immunodeficiency or AIDS. It is observed in patients suffering from hemodialysis and in cases where long-term treatment with heparin is carried out. Gangrene of the skin means death of the skin. The process can be localized in any part of the body or in many areas at once.

The disease is divided into the following types: - The primary or independent toxic form of skin gangrene affects some parts of the integumentary tissue. The secondary or mixed form of this disease can occur in any location. For example, phlegmon appears as secondary, since inflammation is associated with the development of subcutaneous edema. - The wet variety is characterized by suppuration of the affected areas. Under the influence of infection, extensive areas of necrosis with purulent discharge develop. Wet gangrene manifests itself with serious clinical manifestations, which makes its treatment difficult

Gangrenous process in case of poisoning with toxic substances (manifestations correspond to those known from the clinical pictures of toxic edema) and death, which occurs within several hours after the poison enters the body. Gangrene is the deposition on the skin of various products of microbial or other tissue breakdown, including toxins, against the background of severe local tissue ischemia.
