Receptor Contact

Hello!

In our article we will look at an interesting type of receptor, which is called contact. In biology and medicine, such a contact receptor is called a receptor that responds to contact with a certain chemical compound or other object.

A contact receptor is a complex biochemical formation that takes part in the processes of perception of stimuli from various environmental factors. This type of receptor is involved in both humoral and nervous regulation of individual body functions. Let us consider in more detail the mechanism of functioning of the contact receptor. Upon contact with any object, the chemically active element releases a certain amount of free radicals, which are directed to the central “core” of the receptor, which provokes increased sensitivity. Thus, the intensity of the transmitted impulses increases, as a result of which sensations arise and the person feels various external stimuli. It should be noted that the influence of the information flow and its direction depend on the histochemical features and certain anatomical structures of a given sensory organ. In addition to their properties, contact receptors also have significant dynamics and mobility, which are capable of ensuring adequate interaction with the environment. Such receptors are the pupils of the eyes, the auricle, certain areas of the skin, the taste analyzer, the organ of smell and some other organs. The negative point is that a change in the polarity of the receptor
