Reflux-Ileitis

**Reflux – ileitis (synonym – reflux disease)**

Reflux esophagitis is a chronic inflammatory process of the mucous membrane of the lower esophagus, which develops as a result of the regular reflux of acidic stomach contents into the lumen of this organ. Together with impaired motor function of the esophagus, the disease is called gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Under the influence of gastric juice, mucous tissue loses its protective layer, which increases the risk of injury. The absence of complaints does not mean that the disease is not developing. At first it is asymptomatic, but after a few years the condition worsens, most often the disease relapses.
