Reposition Open

Open reduction is a surgical procedure in which the broken bone fragments are reduced after first cutting and retracting the soft tissue covering the fracture site.

Open reduction is used in cases where closed reduction (without surgery) is ineffective or impossible. Such situations include:

  1. Fractures with displacement of fragments, when bone fragments are greatly displaced and cannot be set by traction or manually.

  2. Comminuted and comminuted fractures, in which there are many small bone fragments.

  3. Open fractures complicated by soft tissue damage.

  4. Pathological fractures due to tumors or osteoporosis.

  5. Irreversible dislocations with separation of bone fragments.

  6. Fractures with damage to large vessels and nerves.

  7. Old fractures and ununited fragments.

Open reduction begins by cutting through the soft tissue and exposing the bone at the fracture site. Then the surgeon removes the displacement of the fragments and fixes them with knitting needles, rods, plates or an external device. After immobilization, the wound is sutured and the limb is fixed with a plaster cast.

Thus, open reduction allows for accurate comparison of fragments and stable fixation of bones in complex and non-standard fractures, which contributes to their correct healing.

Open Reposition, also known as P.O. Reposition. (pronation open) is a surgical procedure that is performed after exposure of bone fragments. This procedure is used to repair bones that have been fractured.

Open reduction begins by cutting the soft tissue around the bone fragments to expose them. The surgeon then uses special tools to move the bone fragments into the correct position. After this, the soft tissue and bone are sutured together to ensure proper healing.

This procedure can be used to treat various types of fractures, such as those in the arms, legs, spine, and other parts of the body. Open reduction is a safe and effective procedure, but requires a professional approach and experience from the surgeon.

In conclusion, Open reduction is a surgical procedure that can help repair bone fractures. It involves exposing bone fragments and moving them to the correct position, which ensures rapid healing and restoration of function of the damaged part of the body.
