Rubomycin

Rubomycin (lat. Rubomycinum); a systemic drug, a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the ansamide group, one of the world's first antitumor antibiotics. Active against coccal flora, some large gram-positive and gram-negative rods. In high concentrations it has a bactericidal effect, in lower concentrations it has a bacteriostatic effect; the drug increases the permeability of cell membranes and inhibits protein synthesis, probably due to binding to the 30S subunit of peptidyl transferase.
