Testicular seminoma or germinoma is one of the types of cancer in oncology. In this article we will take a closer look at this type of malignant tumor.
Seminoma is a type of cancer that arises from germ cells in the testicles. That is, these neoplasms can form in any organ of the male reproductive system due to genetic mutations. The incidence of germinomas is 1% of all tumors in the male body, 80% of diagnosed tumors occur between the ages of 20 and 40 (usually, about 60% of cases appear in men between the ages of twenty and thirty).
Thus, the key risk factors are the man’s age and the influence of genetics. Also, seminal cancer is often accompanied by prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, so the tissues of the urinary system are often affected. The tumors are located in the gonads (testicles), testes, or lymph nodes in the pelvis.
