Separate Medical Reinforcement Company

A separate company of medical reinforcement (abbreviated ORMU) is a unit of the medical service in the Armed Forces of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War.

ORMU were intended to provide medical care to wounded and sick military personnel in combat conditions. As a rule, ORMU were assigned to rifle divisions, tank and mechanized corps.

The ORMU personnel included doctors of various specialties (surgeons, therapists, etc.), paramedics, nurses, and porters. ORMU was armed with ambulances, carts, stretchers and other medical equipment.

ORMU played a big role in saving the lives of Soviet soldiers and officers who were wounded in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. ORMU medical personnel showed heroism and dedication in performing their duty.
