Mitral Valve Opening Click

The Mitral Valve Opening Click is the sound that can be heard when recording an electrocardiogram (ECG) of the heart while it is working. This click occurs when the bicuspid mitral (left atrioventricular) valve, which separates the left atrium from the left ventricle, opens. This valve consists of two leaflets that open under the influence of blood flowing from the left atrium into the left ventricle.

The opening click of the mitran valve is physiological and is not dangerous to human health. It can be recorded during an electrocardiographic examination, which is used to diagnose various cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias and others.
