Sycosis

Sycosis: causes, symptoms and treatment

Sycosis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the hair follicles. The name of the disease comes from the Greek word "sykon", which means the fruit of the fig tree, since sycosis causes tumors to form on the skin, resembling the shape of a figured fruit.

The causes of sycosis can be different, but most often the disease is caused by an infection with staphylococcus, which enters the hair follicle and causes inflammation. The risk of developing sycosis increases if there is any damage to the skin, such as scrapes, cuts, or insect bites. Risk factors may also include immune system disorders, hormonal changes and certain medications.

Symptoms of sycosis include the appearance of blisters or swellings on the skin, which are often located around the hair follicles. The skin around tumors may be red and inflamed, and crusts or skin rashes may form on the surface of the tumors. In some cases, sycosis can lead to hair loss.

Treatment of sycosis depends on the severity and cause of the disease. Mild cases can be treated with topical medications such as antiseptics and antibiotic ointments. More severe cases may require oral antibiotics or laser therapy. In any case, it is important to consult a doctor for diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

In general, sycosis is a disease that can lead to serious complications if you do not consult a doctor on time. At the first signs of the disease, you should immediately contact a dermatologist to receive professional help.
