Hypersplenic syndrome

Hypersplenemic syndrome (synonym - hypersplenemia syndrome) is a clinical syndrome observed in various diseases, accompanied by a sharp increase in the number of blood cells in the blood and an increase in the number of reticulocytes in the peripheral blood. In this article we will look at the main symptoms and causes of hyperspd syndrome.

Hypersplenism syndrome is a condition in which the spleen becomes larger and more active. The spleen is an important organ that is responsible for filtering the blood and removing various harmful substances from it. With hypersplenia syndrome, the blood decreases and the functions of the spleen are impaired, which leads to various diseases.

Hypersplenic syndrome can occur for a variety of reasons, but most often it is the result of chronic inflammation in the tissues of the spleen. Chronic inflammation can be caused by various factors such as infections, tumors or autoimmune diseases.

The main symptoms of the syndrome include general weakness, fatigue, headache, decreased appetite and weight loss. An enlarged spleen and other signs of inflammation, such as abdominal pain, fever and blood pressure, may also occur.

Diagnosis of hypersplenia syndrome is usually done through blood tests and ultrasound. In some cases, a biopsy of the spleen may be necessary to determine the cause of the enlarged spleen.

Treatment for hyperspalynia syndrome depends on the cause that causes it. If it is caused by an infection, antibiotics may be prescribed. If the cause is a tumor, then surgery may be required to remove the tumor tissue.
