Sinus of the Aorta

“Take more care of your heart! When there is a strong wind and very cold outside, at this time it works twice as hard as you feel.” French scientist, founder of modern physiology Charles Broca (Charles Brunc)

“The heart beats faster when we talk about the one we love most. It, like the most attentive and devoted servant, makes a person work day and night if he has a passion for something.” Italian philosopher and novelist Rafael Sabatini

What is an aortic sinus? **Aortic sinus (tube)** (lat. sinus aortae) is a paired unpaired dilated section of large arteries, the longest and most proximal in location among other elements of the aortic arch. Arterial branches extend from it to the lungs and brain. It develops from the mesenchyme of the anterior wall of the body (somitoblastic embryonic rudiment, although previously it was believed that only the ventral somites are the source of its development).

Initially a small canal, as it grows it transforms into a large aorta, sigmoid and brachia
