Transversus Site

Situs transversus is a Latin expression meaning the transverse arrangement of organs within the body. This refers to the location of the abdominal organs, namely the liver, spleen and intestines. Abnormal internal arrangement of the digestive organs can lead to various diseases.

The normal arrangement of organs is longitudinal - organs are located along the long axis of the body, which allows them to function properly. However, there are cases when organs occupy some space in the transverse direction, this is called situs transverse.

The disease is known as Swyer-Gates syndrome or d'Ablain syndrome.
