Pericecal scotoma in ophthalmology
**Pericecal scotoma** (*English pericecal scotoma, Greek “peri” - around, around poop*) is a blind spot in the visual field in the area of the fixation point. It occurs much more often than periplacental scotoma, which is associated with the physiological characteristics of the development of the optic nerve. Scotoma *pericecal* can occur with closed eye injuries, penetrating eye injuries and a number of diseases leading to circulatory disorders of the retina and optic nerve, and vascular diseases.
