Deafblindness

**Deaf-blindness (lat. caecus blind + lat. surdus deaf)** is a state of simultaneous absence of visual and auditory sensations. *The term “deafblind” is not entirely correct*, since we can only talk about absolute blindness and complete deafness - in practice, both conditions are extremely rarely combined. Most people are blind and/or deaf from birth. Consequently, most often we are talking about children and adults with hearing or vision impairments. The term deaf-blind and mute began to be used from the end of the 19th century as an abbreviation for the word “deaf-blind.” It is now used for convenience, stylistic uniformity and consistency
