Spiroergometry

Spiroergometry is a method of functional diagnostics based on the simultaneous measurement of lung volume and vital capacity (VC) using a spirometer and the patient’s physical activity using a bicycle ergometer or treadmill.

This method allows you to assess the condition of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, identify hidden pathologies, and also determine the effectiveness of treatment or rehabilitation.

Spiroergometry can be performed both in a hospital setting and at the patient’s home. Before conducting the study, it is necessary to perform a number of preparatory activities:

– avoid eating 2-3 hours before the test;
– warn your doctor about taking medications if they are taken regularly;
– do not smoke or drink alcohol before the study.

During the study, the patient performs physical activity on a bicycle ergometer or treadmill, while lung volume and cardiac output are measured. The received data is processed by a computer program and displayed on the monitor screen.

The results of the study allow us to assess the functional state of the patient’s lungs and cardiovascular system, identify possible disorders and determine the need for further examination or treatment.

Thus, spiroergometry is an important method of functional diagnostics, which allows one to obtain information about the state of the patient’s respiratory and cardiovascular systems and helps to identify possible diseases in a timely manner.
