Splenectomy

Surgical treatment consisting of excision of the spleen. Splenography is an x-ray examination aimed at identifying obstruction of the junction of the splenic vein with vessels in other areas of the abdominal cavity in case of mechanical obstacles to the evacuation of blood through the spleen.

The main lesion of the spleen parenchyma is rheumatoid (septic) and septicopyemic peritonitis, splenomegaly with hemorrhagic diathesis. It is also used as a symptomatic operation for primary tumors of the spleen, tumors of the retroperitoneal space and retroperitoneal hematoma. The operation is performed under general anesthesia, complicated by collapse - transfused red blood cells, platelets or freshly citrated blood are administered intravenously. The serous-fibrous membrane of the organ with the mesentery is excised, after which the altered parenchyma is removed, leaving only the leaflet membrane with a fatty layer, reaching the gate of the spleen (the correct shape of the spleen).
