Sulfadimezin

Sulfadimezin is an antibacterial drug from the sulfonamide group.

Indications for use:

  1. Pneumonia
  2. Meningitis
  3. Gonorrhea
  4. Sepsis
  5. Dysentery

Directions for use and dosage:

  1. Orally, adults are prescribed 1 g 4 times a day. For pneumonia and meningitis, 2 g is prescribed for the first dose.
  2. Children are prescribed 0.1 g/kg for the first dose, then 0.025 g/kg every 4-6 hours.
  3. Higher doses for adults: single dose 2 g, daily dose 7 g.

Side effects:

  1. Nausea, vomiting
  2. Allergic reactions
  3. Changes in blood

Contraindications:

  1. Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
  2. Diseases of the hematopoietic system
  3. Kidney diseases

Release form:
Tablets of 0.25 g and 0.5 g
