Fecal fistula

Fecal fistula is a pathological condition that is manifested by the formation of a duct connecting a hollow organ with the external environment (external excretory fistula) or with the cavity of another organ (internal fistula). Fistulas can form in various organs and systems due to various diseases and injuries. They can be caused by infections, tumors, injuries and other reasons. Treatment depends on the cause of the fistula and its severity. There are external and internal fistulas. Internal fistulas are divided into posterior, anterior and lateral (in the direction of pus flow). External fistula openings include scars (wounds) or fistula canals. Extensive defects with extensive destruction of soft tissue are called defective fistulas.
