Ligament Vesica Lateral

The lateral vesical ligament (lat. lig. vesicale laterale) is one of the paired ligaments of the bladder. It is located on the sides of the bladder and connects it to the side wall of the pelvis.

The lateral vesical ligament consists of bundles of smooth muscle fibers. It limits the lateral movement of the bladder during filling and emptying. In addition, the ligament is involved in the innervation of the bladder, as it contains nerve fibers.

Thus, the lateral vesical ligament plays an important role in fixing the bladder and regulating its functions. Damage or weakening of this ligament can lead to problems with bladder emptying.
