Vaginal ligament

Introduction

The vaginal ligament is two small fibrous ligaments located in the walls of the vagina in front of the opening. It is one of the important components of the female reproductive system and performs an important function in the process of childbirth.

Anatomy of the vaginal ligament

Each of the two vaginal ligaments runs to the sides of the anterior wall of the vagina and descends into the tissue. They form a connective tissue sac located inside the vaginal wall. The fusion of both ligaments occurs on the posterior wall of the vagina at approximately 5 cm from the posterior opening.
