Symptom Cord

Shnur's symptom is an x-ray sign characterized by a sharp narrowing of the intestinal shadow in the image.

There are two variants of the Cord symptom:

  1. With terminal ileitis, a pronounced narrowing of the shadow of the ileum is observed. This is due to the inflammatory process and scarring changes in the intestinal wall.

  2. With tuberculous lesions of the colon, local narrowing of its lumen is also noted. The cause is specific tuberculous plaques and infiltration of the intestinal wall.

Thus, the Shnur symptom indicates a certain intestinal pathology and helps in the diagnosis of inflammatory and infiltrative diseases. This symptom has important diagnostic value when examining patients.

In this article we will look at the “Cord” symptom - an x-ray phenomenon that manifests itself as a sharp narrowing of the x-ray shadow between two acute lesions in the intestinal tube. This occurs in diseases that cause inflammation or irritation of the intestines, such as terminal ileitis and tuberculosis of the colon.

Terminal ileitis is an acute infectious disease of the intestines, which is manifested by severe abdominal pain and blood in the stool. This condition can be caused by a variety of viruses or bacteria, but is often associated with intestinal inflammation due to treponematous infection.

With terminal ischemia, the X-ray shadow of the ileal area sharply narrows due to thickening of the mucous membrane and infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract wall. This effect is called the "Cords" symptom. This
