Is talc poison?
Many mothers use talc as a powder for children, but not everyone knows that this white powder, when ingested, acts as a strong poison.
Talc is toxic. Duke University Medical Center has shown that talc poisoning can cause fever, facial twitching, convulsions, and decreased urine output. Other symptoms include cough, difficulty breathing, jaundice, blisters, vomiting and low blood pressure. The most serious complication of airborne talcum powder entering the lungs or ingesting the powder can be coma.
Store talc in a place that is safe for children. You should immediately consult a doctor if your child inhales or swallows the powder!
