The thalamic bundle (lat. fasciculus thalamocorticalis) is the longest bundle of associative fibers in the brain of humans and mammals. It connects the precentral gyrus of the brain in animals with the lateral nucleus of the thalamus, which is responsible for the receipt of sensory information. The bundle was named due to the two anatomical structures through which it passes. In Latin, "thalamicus" is the word for "thalamus" and "corticalis" is "cortical", indicating the location of the terminal neurons of the bundle in the cerebral cortex.
