Recently, I learned about mesotheliomas and how they are treated. I was surprised to learn that these types of cancers are treated similarly to other forms of cancers. Mesotheliomas require different types of treatments than some other cancers, but the general steps are identical.
Surgery remains the first choice for most people diagnosed with mesotheliom. Specially trained surgeons may be called on to remove parts of the chest wall, including the diseased tissue surrounding a sleeve of lung called the pleura. If only part of a person’s lung remains after surgery, they will have limited function, so further treatment might be offered early. To prepare for possible complications associated with pleurodesis (collating the lungs onto the wall), mesotheliasts may undergo cardiomyopathy, liver or heart treatments, chemotherapy or combination therapy. Pleurodesis may involve the administration of adhesives that are injected either into the blisters on the inside of the pores covered chest wall. Good results, in which the lesions diminish without leading to any major side effects, have been shown with these procedures. Unfortunately there have also been cases where major side effects such as scarring or infection have occurred. There is currently no proof that just regular chemistry or radiotherapies are more effective than pleurodesia. It is still not enough to make a decision a monthly follow-up with imaging to see if scarring is occurring. Ovulation referencing and tapering these drugs at all stages is less likely to resolve in problematic cases. The scarring causes the lungs to function poorly and limits fluid movement away from them. Patients often develop pressure sores caused by breathing problems and weakness, which can be compounded by tobacco use. People with underlying liver problems, type 2 diabetes or congestive heart failure commonly have infections, leaving them particularly vulnerable to end-stage lung disease. Sadly, malnutrition, falls or insomnia ‘with low immunity may arise even in acute situations. A necessary link between heart and lung damage in mesothelias is what this disease is called a Volusion phenomenon. Volusion Fever is a severe flu-like illness that greatly decreases respiratory muscles function. In severe cases, several ribs or lung clefts.
