Three-day fever in general - it is called tiritaus

A three-day attack begins with goosebumps and a tingling sensation, similar to tingling with needles, then it is cold and pierces with very severe chills, stronger than other chills, but not cold or slightly cold; its coldness comes only from the fact that the warmth goes deeper inward, towards the matter, and the patient feels a kind of tingling with needles. Such a chill, although it is strong, quickly calms down and the body warms up; you have already learned the reasons for such chills.

The chills with a three-day fever are stronger and sharper in the first days, and with a four-day fever - vice versa; In addition, the chills during the three-day period begin with force, then little by little weakens and quickly pass, but during the four-day period this is not the case. The perspiration intensifies during the three-day period towards the end of the attack, the urine is red to fiery, without much thickness, or, if the fever is unclean, the urine is damp or thick. A three-day fever is safer than a burning fever, and no matter how long the hand rests on the body, it does not become hotter, but on the contrary, its flamingness sometimes decreases, whereas with a burning fever the flamingness increases. The phenomena that occur during three days are insomnia without heaviness in the head - heaviness occurs only with certain types of unclean fever - thirst, irritability, anger, reluctance to speak. The pulse is sharp and rapid in comparison with other fevers and is not even in terms of contraction and expansion, for the juice exhausts it and makes it more uneven in the limit period. Its unevenness is then less than with other fevers that depend on juices, and not as great as with other fevers, although the pulse is hard. With a three-day fever, the pulse is stronger, and most often there are no other irregularities in it, except for the irregularities that are especially characteristic of fever, but not other diseases. At first the pulse necessarily becomes compressed until the fever spreads, then it intensifies, accelerates and becomes more frequent, but its irregularity is not so excessive.

Sometimes three-day fever is indicated by age, habits, locality, craft, appearance, time of year and the frequency of its occurrence at such a time. When two varieties of tertian fever are combined, the attacks return every day; therefore, anyone who defines three-day fever by attacks is mistaken; on the contrary, other signs should be observed, and the frequency of attacks only reinforces them. Those suffering from three-day fever sometimes experience insomnia and a love of solitude, and they often feel the boiling of juices near the liver.
