Trifluridine

Trifluridine is an antiviral drug that inhibits viral replication. It is integrated into viral DNA at the synthesis stage, causing the cessation of its elongation. Trifluridine is active against herpes simplex viruses, including ocular herpes.

The drug is used topically for eye infections caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is well tolerated and highly effective.
